Heipparallaa.
Halusin kuitenkin postata kuvan mun lempilaukustani.
Liike itsessään on nähtävyys. Vaikkei mitään ostaisi kannattaa piipahtaa sisään!
Hi! I have been terribly busy the past weeks. My friend and I have a project going on and it takes most of my free time at the moment. I wanted to however post about my new bag -Chloe Drew bag- that I kind of purchased as a ”push bag” for myself. It was my own reward for myself for the past year that was busy both at home and at work. Working full time and being pregnant whilst having a toddler too is not easy and I thought that this bag can remind me of the fact that I made it! It is a bit superficial to buy these kind of expensive designer pieces but I love them. I was trying to choose between Chloe Drew and Valentino Lock Bag and I eventually chose Chloe Drew as it is more classic and goes with anything.
I have been wearing it pretty much every day ever since. I bought it from the store called Marais on Burke Street in Melbourne CBD. They had a super competitive pricing and great service too!
Loistavia paikkoja ostaa ihania turkisliiveja Melbournessa ovat Bird of Prey Little Collins streetillä keskustassa sekä Fillys Stable Albert Parkissa Bridport streetillä. Bird of Prey on siitä mahtava, että he tekevät takkeja mittatilaustyönä, takin pituuden ja värin voi valita itse, hinta on hyvin kohtuullinen. Suosittelen mikäli olet turkiksen ystävä!
I am just packing for our European Christmas holiday. I have had a wonderful couple of weeks. I am really getting my Christmas feeling finally. Have been busy at work but yay finally 2.5 weeks of holidays ahead and family time with our little family.
Our work Christmas party was amazing, everyone was on their top cocktail or evening dresses. We had a three course fine dining dinner and three live bands playing at Crown Casino Palladium which is their biggest and most prestigious venue.
Whilst I was walking the red carpet up to the first floor and saw the ballroom I was so able to imagine all the footy stars and their wives when they have their yearly event at Crown. Evening was fantastic. I have not been dancing this much in one night for a long time. My feet were aching by the end of the night.
I wore my black ball gown as I was excited to have an excuse to wear it.
My next post is coming from Switzerland I think. I have so many photos to post and recipes too but due to my slow posting pace I am not sure when I can actually catch up!
I had a wonderful weekend not only because the weather was hot and sunny but something quite surprising and lovely happened to me.
On Sunday morning my husband suddenly disappeared from the bedroom, we had just woken up but I was lying under the blanket tired as it was only 7am. As usual our daughter was snoring in between us. She loves weekends and quite often knocks the bedroom door between 6-7am and wants to come to give us a cuddle, sometimes she falls asleep for an extra hour or two (lucky me!).
My husband walked quietly back to the bedroom and gave me a small ring box..Wow..crazy I thought…we are already married…he gave me the most romantic speech(more romantic than when he proposed to me!!!). I was so confused. I opened a box and saw this beautiful eternity ring style diamond ring. I was speechless and about to burst into tears..The ring was gorgeous although too big.. so we needed to go back to the centre to swap it. My husband insisted that I should get it done before the holidays next week so that I could wear it at Christmas, in the end it was my Christmas present…so we walked to the centre. It was almost 30 degrees and sunny. The pics below were taken on that day.
Maxi silk dress: Trenery
Bag: Marc de Marc Jacobs
Shirt: Old, somewhere from Copenhagen.
Dress: Marimekko, Finland.
I loved this vegan sushi! In Emporium mall Sushi Hon.
Ring: From Keshett Jewellers
Keshett jewellers is amazing. It is located in Little Collins Street in Melbourne CBD. I really would like to recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice piece of jewellery. They have an unbelievable collection of unique looking rings. Lots of art deco style that I personally am very fond of. My engagement ring is a bit tricky as it is custom made and art deco style so hard to find anything that goes with it. This place had plenty of options. Service was excellent too.
Anyway I am still very touched of this gesture. It has been 3.5 years since we got married and it is nice to feel that love grows and we made it through the tough baby years happily.
I have been busy as usually (nothing new I am afraid!). Work is manic just before Christmas. It is like people are preparing for the end of the world and want to do everything BEFORE CHRISTMAS!
To keep myself going and reward myself for the hard work I bought a new bag. I am a big fan of Marc Jacobs. I just love that casual New York style combined with French classic. I actually needed a small cute handbag to take to work, travels and evening catch ups.
The x ring in the picture is also new..I know I am a shopaholic..will tell about it later..
Dress: Betty Basics
Fur: Jane Ramsay Australia
Bag: Marc de Marc Jacobs
Shoes: Nine West
I love that grey striped dress. I bought it in Lorne, the store had a large selection of Betty Basics clothing. Perfect to every day life, high quality cotton, fits beautifully and stays well in the washing! I have 3 dresses and I ordered even two more as they are just so nice. I am going through this phase that I mainly wear grey, navy blue, white or black..
Last weekend we also trialled the wine bar nearby. We have lived here almost a year and I cannot believe we have not been to this place. It has been rated one of the nicest bars in Melbourne and I have to admit it is. Food was excellent and wine selection superb! The bar is called Bellota.
I ate delicious vegetarian eggplant dish. And my husband ordered John Dory fish.
So nice isn’t it? We had a great weekend. I have been knitting like a crazy person -my way or managing work stress-. I will soon post some instructions for anyone who is interested. A super easy knit.
I will write more soon. I am on my lunch break and running now back to work! Just wanted to post quickly some updates. I cannot wait for Christmas holidays!
I have admired Norwegian knitting patterns for a long time and planning to invest in nice authentic wool jumper. A bit over month ago one of my favourite bloggers ”Fisherman’s Wife” (Kalastajan Vaimo) added instructions of a Norwegian knit. I fell in love with the pattern so much that I ran to the store on the same day and started to knit my own.
It is finally ready. After finishing my own jumper I also knitted one for my dear daughter, she got grey and pink coloured one. I feel knitting has this amazing calming impact. It energises me. I love it.
I also love the feeling of finishing something pretty that I have done with my own hands. This is my Norwegian knit, perfect with tights or skinny jeans and so warm too.
Two different knits.
You need round sticks that are size 7 (European), 140 stitches to start with and knit close round. The pattern is below. You need 500g light colour, 400g dark colour. Knit with double yarn to get a thicker yarn. Combine the colours as you like, I loved this blue and light ivory combination. Knit the pattern four times with round sticks, end the knitting. The sleeves I started from the wrist end (this instruction is from my head by the way..), I created 25 stitches and I added a stitch in the begin and end of every fourth layer approximately until I got 50 stitches. I repeated the pattern four times. I closed the sleeves by using crochet and attached half of the sleeve to the jumper by using crochet. In the end I took all the stitches around the neck and from both half of the sleeves and knitted ”knit one, purl one” for 5cm with round stitches as closed round. My size is UK 8, EU 34-36 so if you are a bigger size just add more stitches.
The pattern above is for 12 stitches. It is from Fisherman’s Wife blog.
I bought Finnish ”Seven Brother’s Wool” (Seitemän Veljeksen lanka, Novita Oy) that is for 4mm sticks. It is 100% wool but quite soft and nice and feels lovely against the skin. As Finnish products usual this yarn is extremely high quality wool and meets the standard of colour proof or how you call it which means that you can wash it in the machine and the colours stay even when light and dark in the same knit.
I hope you liked this post! Something different for change!
I love Fridays. It is funny now when I am not working I still cannot get my head away from the working life, nowadays every day is weekend for me, still Fridays feel special.
I had a wonderful day today. Early in the morning I went to the centre with my dear daughter. I took her to Selfridges.
Oh have I ever told you how much I love that store, well these days I do, there was a time when I did not. When I came to London as a rather newly graduated student I struggled to find a job, British economy was doing really badly, I had done my PhD for the past 1,5 years and I was still doing my PhD on scholarship in London. I was however worried of not having been worked for a while so I decided to do something. I actually started working at Selfridges. It didn’t last very long, well it lasted long enough for me to understand two things: firstly pure customer service is not for me, secondly serving ”posh” people who think they own the world is not for me. It was a culture shock straight on my face. I just relocated from a country where the equality is everything. In Finland we don’t have this old fashioned classicism as they do here in England. I am used to treat every human being the same whether poor or rich, young or old, man or woman, CEO or secretary. For me to accept the classicist serving culture in this store was shocking. If I remember right I quit my job after couple of weeks and thought I’d rather be unemployed than serving anyone who thinks the thickness of their check book allows them to treat other people like inferiors! Being so for a while I did not enter Selfridges even though we lived one street behind it in Marylebone, just in principle. Soon after the Selfridges incident I got a great job and ever since I have been able to do just what I love. I have also become to understand this classicism a lot more. It is horrible and I will never accept it, neither learn to like it, but me rebelling against it won’t make it disappear so I just have to live with it. Of course this is what most of the people here do and nothing changes.
Well anyway back to my day. My daughter loved the windows with all the decorations and we walked throughout the ground floor. She is definitely going to be my best shopping buddy in future. Everything at Selfridges is just presented so beautifully. I love admiring the handbags, they must have almost all the different models there on display.
The actual reason we went there was the Marc Jacobs saw stud earrings I had decided I desperately needed. I happily carried a small bag home!
I have been looking for simple cool studs to wear.
I instantly fell in love with these studs when I saw them. I bought the cream coloured ones. They are gorgeous.
I hope you all have a fantastic and relaxing Friday!
PS. Next post is the Pumpkin pie recipe, I have already written it so will be published tomorrow!
Many of you who read other fashion blogs may have encountered the earrings that seem to have impressed fashion lovers. These are the Dior style Mise en Dior earrings that have studs or pearls in both ends of the earrings. They look sophisticated and trendy. They are simple but yet so stylish.
Mise en Dior earrings. Double pearls.
I saw the Zara versions of the earrings in one of my favourite blogs Style Plaza. I actually preferred them compared to the Dior ones as the Zara double pears bend nicely over the ear lobe as the pearls are further from each other than in the Dior version. This makes ears look somehow more feminine. After seeing them I could not get the earrings out of my head. I felt I needed them (as I so often do with clothes..). I found a similar looking pair in Finland, in fact I found them at Lindex.
Lindex earrings. By the way now in sale!
Very similar to Zara’s ones as you can soon notice.
When I returned back to London I went instantly on Zara’s website and bought the double pearl earrings. I tried to find them in all the Zara stores (including Heathrow airport..)I passed but none of them had those earrings on display. I got the pair last week. They are just gorgeous. I usually prefer real materials and am not a big fan of buying earrings from high street stores but I have been extremely happy with these double pearls. They rock!
Zara pearl earrings.
I have been dreaming of these Valentino rockstuds for a while…
My husband however persuaded me not to spend my money on ridiculously expensive shoes before our huge move to Australia which in the end was a smart move. I ruin high heels all the time, they get stuck somewhere and here you go, heels ruined for good, shoes useless. I still could not get these shoes out of my head so when I found similar looking replicas in the store called Office I was at the counter with my credit card faster than the light. I am actually really happy I did not buy the real Valentinos..yet..will be on my shopping list in the future when this pram phase with the toddler is over. As a mummy I hardly ever have a chance to wear these king of ”hot” heels. Anyway, the replicas I found are looking like this and will do it for a while.
I have this vision of maroon clothes and these heels. Will post you later the actual photo of that outfit!
PS. Office has a nice sale on so I recommend for anyone in the UK to have look at their sale items!
Within the past month I have fallen in love with the grey snake printed clothes that I recently bought. I often laugh at myself. When I find something super nice I wear it all the time until I get bored of looking the same every day, same applies to jewellery. I carried so many clothes with me to Finland but when I found the perfect ”snake shirt” I pretty much wore it as much as I could.
I have two different snake printed shirts, both of them I actually bought in Finland. The one is more like a top without sleeves, perfect under the jacket or for warm Autumn days, the other is a see through long sleeve shirt, super comfortable and relaxed. I like to combine those shirts either with other shades of grey, peachy pink or white.
In Finland I wore the see through shirt with white pants. I quite like the combination, in general I think grey and white go so well together. I am not normally very fond of grey but with white, peachy light pink or different shades of grey it looks more like me.
Back in London I wore the snake printed top with a grey jacket and black jeans skirt.
I also found perfect autumn shoes during my trip to Finland.
I love the golden studs, kind of a sophisticated cowgirl look! Works with jeans or with skirts!
I also got my nails done with greyish navy blue colour as it seems to be the perfect dark shade for this Autumn, it goes well with anything really. I have previously advertised Loreta Jag in Knightbridge that is an amazing beauty salon. The problem with Loreta Jag for me is that it is totally on the other side of the town and so far to go to in the weekday evenings so recently I have been going to the place nearby Swiss Care. I have two favourite ladies doing my nails there, they do great job and quite quickly too. Loreta Jag is more of a luxury visit as they do one hour full manicure included in the package whereas at Swiss Care I only go for Shellac and some quick manicure. I always go for Shellac (CND) instead of Gelish. I know it is quite personal what suits for you better. I have felt that Shellac stays better on my nails and seems not to cause too much damage on the surface of the nail.
I cannot wait for the weekend. My husband and I have a date, a proper date. Our nanny will come to look after our daughter whilst we can actually have some couple’s time. As London Restaurant Festival is on I booked for us one of the festival menus in L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon. L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon is has one Michelin star, it is a multi award winning place and one of the London West End hot spot. Before leaving London I wanted to check out this French restaurant. As the restaurant festival is on you get great deals so I booked us a three course late lunch with matching wines. I cannot wait for eating there. The place has gotten fantastic reviews all over the place. I will post everything about it as soon as I can. Hopefully they allow to take photos of the dishes, some places in London won’t.
Talk to you soon! Have a great Wednesday afternoon!
